• The department was recognized in 2023 by the Pennsylvania State Modern Language Association as an Exemplary Program in World Languages.

• Our French program was recognized in 2023 as an "Exemplary Program with Honors" by the American Association of Teachers of French. We are the first program in Pennsylvania to receive this recognition. 

• We offer students the opportunity to participate in the National Spanish Exam and Le Grand Concours; many have placed in the top 10 in our region. Additionally, we have received a first place school prize and many individual student awards at the Shippensburg University Modern Language Competition.

• The only National Board Certified teacher in the district is a member of our department. This certification is held by less than 3% of teachers nationwide and less than 25 language teachers in Pennsylvania.

• We often lead trips abroad in the summer, offering our students the opportunity to interact with the cultures and languages that they are studying.

• We have lived or studied in numerous Francophone and Hispanic regions.
