Counseling Services

Welcome to the BSHS School Counseling Department!

Your School Counselor is available to assist students with academic success, personal/social growth, and career development.

The Counselor’s goal is to help students maximize his or her school experience and prepare for a rewarding future. Counselors emphasize students take an active role in developing self-awareness, exploring career paths, and making informed decisions regarding academic and career planning and life choices.

The Counseling Department promotes the development of each student’s potential, so that every student will become an effective decision-maker and problem-solver, a lifelong learner, and a productive member of society. Counselors work with students regarding, but not limited to, the following topics:

  • Resiliency
  • Goal setting
  • Action plans
  • Understanding differences
  • Respecting others
  • Development of self-concept
  • Conflict resolution
  • Course selection
  • Career awareness
  • Decision making
  • Interpersonal communication
  • Community resources

The counseling office is always available to students and parents. We encourage students to visit the Counseling Office as often as they need. As a minimum, all students will have a yearly individual appointment with their assigned counselor to review academic progress, graduation requirements and career goals.
