As a service to area residents who are not otherwise affiliated with the University, Lehman Library offers borrowing privileges through a Local Community Card. Applicants must be 18 years of age and present identification in the form of a valid Pennsylvania driver's license.

Local Community Card Policies

  • $10 Annual Fee
  • Community Patron Cards expire one year from the date of issue
  • Community Cardholders are responsible for all materials borrowed on their card and are subject to established overdue fines and replacement costs

High school students are encouraged to borrow Lehman Library materials through InterLibrary Loan at their high school libraries. Otherwise, a parent or legal guardian must accompany the student to the library and make application on the student's behalf.

Loan Period

Patrons holding any type of community card may borrow the following:

  • Books: up to 15 items from the circulating collections, for 28 days. 
    These items may be renewed once; please contact [email protected] with your name, your Lehman Library card number, and the titles and barcodes of each book that you need renewed.
  • Videos/DVD's and music CD's: up to 3 items of each type, for 14 days. 
    These items may not be renewed

Restrictions

  • Reference books, reserve materials, and periodicals do not circulate
  • Access to the subscription online databases is available to community patrons only from on campus
  • Interlibrary Loan services are restricted to current Ship students, faculty, staff, and administrators
  • An individual not returning materials after proper notification has been given will be prosecuted under P.L.106 of 1970
