Canvas is a learning management system that is used at BSHS to post course materials and assignments. All of Mrs. Bailey's classes have a Canvas page and students can access their page for French class by following the instructions on the Canvas QuickStart Guide linked below.

What should I do if I don't know a word?
Visit wordreference.com to look up unfamiliar vocabulary.  You can also use this online dictionary site to confirm verb conjugations by clicking on the "conjugator" for new verbs you have looked up.

What about Google Translate?  Should I use it?
"The use of Google Translate may be too easily accessed instead of really learning a language. An individual that has access to the translator may not put in the time or effort, to fully absorb the language. This can be a detriment, especially when it comes to high school students or those attending classes who may rely too much on this device. Further, Google Translate offers individuals the chance to translate without a full grasp of what is being presented before them. The result is a lack of true understanding if the translation is correct and whether or not the words are in the correct order."

How do I type accents on a computer?
Hold down the "ALT" key and type in a three-digit numeric code with the numeric keypad on the right side of the keyboard. For example, typing ALT + 130 or ALT+ 0233 will produce "é":

If you have a question about an assignment or anything else related to French class, you should first check with a responsible classmate.  If your classmate is unable to help you find the answer to your question, contact Madame Bailey at [email protected].  If you do not receive a response to your question during the overnight hours, stop in and see Mrs. Bailey before school begins the next day.
